Hello! I’m Minami, a makeup artist 🌞
Today, I’d like to introduce the “Purple Fox Plan,” a purple-themed version of our original “Kitsune-no-yomeiri” photoshoot style at STUDIO KOKORO ARASHIYAMA.

First of all, for our international guests—are you familiar with the term “Kitsune-no-yomeiri (Fox Wedding)”?
“Kitsune-no-yomeiri” refers to a sunshower, when it rains even though the sky is clear. The term comes from the idea that such a mysterious phenomenon feels like being tricked by a fox. In the past, it also referred to eerie sightings of fox fire (mysterious flames) appearing in a line at night. In Japan, foxes are considered auspicious messengers of the gods, so a sunshower is sometimes seen as a sign of good luck.
Our studio created the “Kitsune-no-yomeiri” photoshoot series by imagining what this concept would look like if personified.
The “Purple Fox” plan is available for a limited time each year from May to July. What makes it special is not only its single-color theme, but also its use of seasonal Japanese flowers such as wisteria and iris, which bloom during this time of year.
Incorporating seasonal flowers reflects the Japanese appreciation for the changing seasons.
Now, without further ado, let me explain the key features of the “Purple Fox” plan!
1. Choose from Two Inner Kimono Colors

While the outer uchikake (formal bridal coat) comes in one design, you can choose between two colors for the inner kimono: lavender or deep purple.
2. Choose from Two Traditional Bridal Headpieces
For the “Kitsune-no-yomeiri” style, we offer two types of traditional Japanese wedding headwear: wataboshi and tsunokakushi.
- Wataboshi: A white hood that covers the bride’s head. It slightly conceals the face and is said to symbolize that the bride shows her face only to the groom until the ceremony is complete—similar to a wedding veil.

- Tsunokakushi: A long cloth wrapped around the head. It symbolizes “hiding one’s horns,” representing the bride’s intention to become a gentle and composed wife. In Japan, there’s even a humorous saying that an angry wife becomes an “oni (demon) wife,” as if horns appear when she’s upset!

3. A Variety of Hairstyle Options

You can choose from traditional Japanese styling using your natural hair, or opt for a black or white wig.
Natural hair styling creates a classic bridal look, while wigs give a more cosplay-inspired feel. If you love an anime-like aesthetic, the wig styles are highly recommended♪
As you can see, even within a single color theme, there are many ways to customize your look. Each person can create a unique style—it’s truly “to each their own”♪
What do you think? Are you interested in trying the “Kitsune-no-yomeiri” style? 😊
There are still many available booking dates after May, so if this blog inspired you and you’d love to try this plan, we would be delighted to receive your reservation✨
We look forward to welcoming you!
